Stevie Ray Vaughan fell through an open trap door backstage after performing at the Hammersmith Palais in London on Oct. 2 1986. in a dimly lit area, he slipped off a gangplank, severely lacerating his leg and causing internal hemorrhaging. he was rushed to a hospital where doctors said his stomach lining was severely damaged due to crystallized cocaine in his intestines, giving him a prognosis of only a couple of weeks to live if he continued his lifestyle. he entered what was new at that time, a rehab facility in Atlanta shortly after returning to the US, and remained clean and sober for the rest of his life.

Nov. 1983 Steve Marriott opened for Quiet Riot on their first arena headline show, they were huge Humble Pie fans and when Steve went to Quiet Riot’s dressing room to introduce them on stage Frankie and Kevin immediately dropped to their knees doing the “we’re not worthy” bit years before Wayne’s World. while Humble Pie played, they hung out on the side of the stage to watch. Steve came offstage during Fallon Williams III’s drum solo on 30 Days in the Hole and is seen egging Fallon on. at the time, Quiet Riot had the #1 album in the U.S.

June 3-4 1967 the KFRC Fantasy Fair on the slope of Mount Tamalpais was the first successful organized concert festival showcasing top popular bands of the time, just before Monterey Pop, with The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Canned Heat, Country Joe, The Seeds, The 5th Dimension, Steve Miller, Captain Beefheart, The Byrds, Mother’s Sons in pic, and many others.

the Toronto Rock and Roll Revival of Sept. 1969, the one with the unfortunate chicken incident and when Alice fired a flare gun, which flew past the canopy covering the stage. luckily, the Canadian crowd was schooled in trajectory and the speed dynamics of a falling object, plus they had the necessary equipment to deal with any flaming crash site….. a guy with a big boot. then the announcer dashed out and yelled “Alice Cooper!! The future of Rock and Roll!”
