Syd Barrett, Jerry Shirley and David Gilmour on June 6 1970 at Olympia Hall, London. they played a four-song set at the Extravaganza '70 festival;
Terrapin, Gigolo Aunt, Effervescing Elephant, and Octopus, the performance would be Syd's only solo concert. after the fourth song, Barrett quietly unstrapped his guitar, placed it on the stage, and walked off, bringing the brief gig and his live solo career to a permanent end, then retreated to his hometown of Cambridge, abandoning the music industry entirely.

Ronnie Wood joined the Group in early 1967 as Beck's 2nd lead guitarist but was persuaded to bass. they were rehearsing in the basement of Ronnie Scotts Club at 39 Gerrard St, London W1, which was just around the corner from Sound City. Ronnie didn't own a bass so he simply took a Fender Telecaster bass from the music store, unable to afford it he took it home and didn't return to the store to pay for the instrument until 5yrs later.

by Bob Etzler: I missed the Summer of Love in San Francisco 1967 by one year because I was on a freighter in the pacific ocean touring south east asia. I was in the mess department serving food to machinists and deck hands on board the freighter. Though in 1968 I was hired by Bill Graham at the Old Fillmore on Geary & Fillmore street to be the backstage doorman. I think I got hired because I was recently honorably discharged from the Air Force (Air Force Policeman) two years prior and I guess Bill figured I could handle the backstage area. It was a great gig to be introduced to hippies, groupies, musicians and drugs. That's me at far end leaning on a snare drum and my older brother Ray Etzler was center top (striped shirt). At the time Ray was the short order cook at the Fillmore. Ray later worked his way up in a few short years to becoming Santana's road manager under Bill Graham.
