Happily trending in my own peculiar direction.
I wondered about that. I figure it’s either fake or electric. You’d be hard pressed to make a real one with a chimney in an airplane. It’d be rather difficult to pressurize the cabin.
I’m certain it’s not functional. Just something they did because they could, it was the 70s after all, and they were top of the heap, as rock stars go, so why not?
Plus, it makes it feel more like home I suppose. Here’s Jones, with his wife on the Starship.
And along the lines of, “we do it because we can”, here’s Jonesy at the Starship’s bar/organ, entertaining Ahmet Ertugun, amongst others.
I can hear "that tone" coming through the photo.
When I got out of high school, I attended Miami U as a math major. I also took a bunch of music classes. One day in Theory class, Ravi Shankar was the guest lecturer.
