I totally agree with you. I was a typesetter and proof reader for many years and these spelling or grammatical errors get to me as well.
It may be, but it was just before or after he got schooled by Buddy Guy…

I first saw Buddy Guy when he was 17 (1965?). He was featured in the second half-hour of a one-hour Chicago PBS special that featured Mississippi John Hurt solo playing a resonator. That's when I knew the classical music I'd been studying on piano for 4 years was NOT the way I was going to go. I knew of John Hurt from my nights out in Gaslight Square in St. Louis in the early '60s, but electric blues? Played just beyond the speed of sound? Blew me away. I didn't want to be him. I wanted to play with him. Was finally able to purchase a used '63 Jazz and '64 brownface in '67. And a Farfisa Mini. Both plugged into the brownface! It was fun trying to fit all of that into my mother's '64 VW Bug. Hit the big time straightaway. $125/gig, split 5 ways (one cut was for band gear like mic stands). How many gigs would I have to play to recover the cost of my gear? Couldn't have cared less.

I only remember the year I saw the show and some comment about his age (17). That may have been when he started gigging. Every year on my birthday, I turn up the brain Fuzz a notch.
