Mick Ronson was...
The guitar player in David Bowie's Spiders from Mars band.
He recorded five albums with Bowie and played guitar, piano and did some of the string arrangements.
He recorded four albums with Ian Hunter (who was the singer in Mott the Hoople) and was part of the Mott the Hoople record All the Young Dudes.
He also recorded five of his own solo records.
He was classically trained in piano, recorder, violin and harmonium.
He played/arranged for lots of other people like, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Pure Prairie League, David Cassidy, John Mellencamp, Ellen Foley and a number of others.
