No, it appears David Palmer had already left the building. Here's a photo with him front and center.

Not sure if SD dropped him or if he left. I guess it depends on who's telling the story. Palmer has successfully sued SDI for streaming royalties if that tells you anything about the relationship.

I don't believe Fagan on much.
having lucked out seeing the classic lineup in '72 opening for Black Oak Arkansas / Hollywood Palladium and as a big fan of the first two LPs it infuriated me that Palmer was cut out cos he was a huge part of why the band was an instant hit even tho mostly unknown as individuals at the time. David Palmer became a trivia question, however, the dude was terrific the nite I saw them. but as awesome as the Dan were we knew what was coming next and Black Oak easily took the nite in Dandy fashion. nobody ever believes that part lol

Sounds like another case of two bands being booked on the same bill that totally don't belong together.
I would think that fans of either would hate the other....but I had fun at lots of shows like that.

Focus of Hokus Pokus fame was also on that bill, but comparatively forgettable.
same venue / year gave us Commander Cody and Howlin' Wolf opening for Alice Cooper!
that's how they did it back then, Bill Graham was King of the eclectic billings, he got it popular.

Somewhere around '85 I think, I saw Krokus and Black Oak Arkansas in Sacramento. At the time, we had no idea why they would be on the same bill. Walked out of B.O.A. because we were heavy metal'ers and were not digging the music. Andy Tanas played in both bands. I guess there are some family relations also.

interesting... was that at the old Civic?
those were odd / tough years for Jim Dandy keeping the faith after a crash and burn, but to his credit he always put a quality group together despite endless issues and tragedies. there's video of likely the version you mention and I was surprised to be impressed, tho not close to metal IMO.

Whoops! Looks like I mis-remembered. It was Blackfoot, not Black Oak Arkansas and it was probably '83. Ahhh fuzzy memories.
