Coolest jazz basses ever?

I am incapable of picking a favorite, but this one is pretty cool. Natural light:

I played two of the coolest looking jazz basses I've ever owned last night...
One was my daphne blue with a maple neck, but the other...
Yes, it's a jazz bass - hidden under those gorgeous wood covers are two hand-wound single coil jazz pickups.

Thanks for the link; but:

Ouch! $1700???
I'm not in on that right away.

Yeah, ouch is right! If it were more around the $1K mark, I'd be tempted. Definitely a great looking jazz bass, I'm just curious to hear it. I wonder if it would be more like a Hofner tone with a jazz growl, or a jazz tone with Hofner warmth. Maybe that's the same thing, lol.

I wonder what the customs duties would be since the seller is in Japan too. Anyone ever buy a guitar from Japan and had to pay customs/taxes/fees? How much were they?

The Fender Japan Precision A/E is much the same. Mahogany body, spruce top. It has an oddball piezo/acoustic guitar kinda bridge though...

at any rate, I modded one into this, and it doesn't sound very hollowbody, at all. So: I wouldn't expect it to sound substantively different from any other well done J bass.
