Yeah, ouch is right! If it were more around the $1K mark, I'd be tempted. Definitely a great looking jazz bass, I'm just curious to hear it. I wonder if it would be more like a Hofner tone with a jazz growl, or a jazz tone with Hofner warmth. Maybe that's the same thing, lol.
I wonder what the customs duties would be since the seller is in Japan too. Anyone ever buy a guitar from Japan and had to pay customs/taxes/fees? How much were they?
Its a small picture, who makes it?
Wish this were mine.. Fender Roscoe Beck 5'er in cherry red.
I have no idea why Fender stopped making them.

IMHO this one is the winner hands down.Yes, D&B is the best ever!!! My old 1966 Charcoal Frost matcher makes the top of the list for me (sold it a few months ago)..

Love that color so much I want to marry it.
How could you sell that?
Thanks! And thanks to all the previous people that commented about it too! Honestly, I miss that bass like crazy. But when someone is willing to hand you over $11K, it's pretty hard to say no to that!
It may not be pre-CBS, but it was close enough. And IMO, '66 was the best year of the Jazz Bass. They still had most of the pre-CBS appointments like vintage frets (for the first half of '66), nitro finish, cool custom color choices, etc.. but I think the bound necks are the best thing that ever happened to the Jazz, so '66 was the best of both worlds to me!
Didn't they start the blocks that year too?
Yes, they started doing the binding (still with pearl dots) in very late '65/early '66, and by summer '66 they ditched the dots completely and went to blocks and binding (which continued all the way up into the early '80s). So the D&B necks were only made for about 5 or 6 months and that was it. The D&B necks are very collectable and can fetch up to $1000 more than the same '66 jazz with blocks and binding.
