Coolest Usable Effect Pedal for under $200

Based on what I have experience using, I'd go with the Q-Tron+. I love envelope filters and this one is extremely versatile and has an effects loop for more possibilities. The only problem with it is that I have to keep my Bad Monkey in its FX loop to tame its volume spike and boost the lows a little while cutting some treble. So it might be a little more the $200 if you buy both those new. But a Carbon Copy delay is a single pedal that I think is my second coolest effect. It's like $140 new.

ehx stereo polyphase. you get an awesome-sounding, exceptionally bass-friendly phaser with tons of flexibility for subtle tone-sculpting, an envelope mode that is nearly replacing the q-tron for my applications, and a square wave mode for extra weird grooviness. And that's if you don't even have an expression pedal lying around ...

A fun little post to help us widen our effects horizens. What, in your opinion, is the coolest useable effect pedal (<$200) for a live rock band setting? And if you have some obscure pedal in mind with a name like Crippled Geese...please let us know what the pedal does...ie delay..etc. Thanks, go nuts!

There is a bit of contradiction in the request though. Coolest and usable aren't mutually exclusive but I wouldn't necessarily look for both in the same pedal.

For instance, the Echo Park is among the more fun budget pedals out there but it wouldn't be my first choice for a "live rock band setting." For that I'd be looking for a solid overdrive or maybe even a wah. Same with the Subdecay Noise Box. Fun? Absolutely. Cool? Yep. Useful in a live rock context? Maybe. (nad seems to think so).

With a little more clarification on what you want I could recommend something either way.

Get an EHX bassballs twin dynamic filter and an EHX worm XO - Phase, Trem, Vibrato, Mod.Wah.

It has an expression pedal in to either have a foot controlled phase or wah pedal.

So with the 2 you'd have an envelope - with distortion built in - and an LFO.

The expression pedal would put you over $200 but you can always save up. I found the phase notched at one position was an amazing tool.

Bassballs are pretty cool, and decently usable. The low price of a nano would allow you to get something else too. Not sure how I avoided try one for so long ;)

Subdecay Noisebox might qualify. It's a cool freaky little guy, with some odd sounds but doesn't manage to be unusable (well, blues and country need not apply).
