Jong (a fellow TB'er) is a great guy to do business with - he is a Cort dealer (along with many high-end basses). If not in stock, I'm sure he can get you one. I've bought my last 2 Cort basses from him - highly recommended. Hope this helps.
For those that were unsatisfied with the sound of the bass.. sterile as you put it. Did they have the MM pickup's? My 6'er has bartolini mk1's and sterile certainly isnt a word I would use to describe it's sound and I am still very pleased with my $450 purchase.
That said the bass isn't for everyone, luthite does have different physical tone qualities and do to the hard maple neck and super small lightweight body it is very neck heavy and can be abit of a pain to use when sitting down(I got used to it and play it almost sitar style on my lap). Good action though the string spacing might be a tad narrow for some.
Oh if I leave it in it's case and open it up I still get that wonderful luthite smell that some how I've come to love.. I get a good wif of that and I just know the fun is on its way.

I had a 5 string. I like the looks and I loved the neck. I had a problem with the bridge though, the saddles wouldn't go low enough to accomodate the action I wanted. Had another Cort bass with the same issue. I shimmed the neck on both, never had to do that with any other bass I owned.
The other thing I wasn't crazy about was that the pickup was noisy. Don't know if it was my particualar bass, or if they're all like that but I don't like no electronic hum, especially on an active bass.
If it weren't for those 2 issues I'd think the bass is real sweet, especially for the price.
