Is it as easy to play as Berlin claims?

Do you use an external preamp?
Nice balance, light (compared to my other basses - Fender, Warwick, home-made) & action sits low (mine was second hand so I'm not sure if the original owner set it up to his taste). Easy to play & really cool looking! I don't use an external preamp.
I think this will be perfect for me once I change the pickups to my preferred pickup (Kent Armstrong).
Yeah man I hope those work out. I almost never see them for sale used.

Yeah as soon as I saw it on here For Sale I jumped on it! Been looking for one for ages! And they don't come around very often.
I've updated my one with Kent Armstrong pickups & a series/parallel switch. I just picked it up today. I just need to adjust the pickups & change strings to my preferred set.....
I saw that - first one in a while, and at a great price. I have the bass I want though, a real solid sweet playing jazz. For a little while I wanted a second and this was a real candidate - as in about a year ago I probably would have jumped on this bass. But that particular gas has, as they say, passed.
I'm curious to hear how the new pickups on yours turn out after you have a chance to play them a while.
Apologies for the zombie necro-bump, but I gotta ask: Where did you hear Jeff Berlin in 1972?
First place I ever heard Jeff play was on Patrick Moraz's album The Story of i from 1976. Even the Wikipedia article (for what it's worth) on Jeff Berlin's Discography lists that album as his recording debut. I'm sure he was playing clubs in Boston prior to then (?) Definitely curious as to what his "prime time" debut was...or where one could hear him earlier than '76.

I gave up on my 2 year search for my dream bass, so I bought the Berlin. Well built but I have no use for the neck pup unless I string up the bass with Pyramid flats and play with a felt pick
