So I purchased a Jeff Berlin Cort bass at around Christmas time, and I'm over the moon with it! Although all reviews have said how good the bass it I haven't see many people who actually have one. Why is this?

When I walked into my local music shop I had no intention of buying this bass but as soon as I played it I had to buy it. I've done many gigs with it now and I cant complain about its performance.

I am also thinking of purchasing the 5 string version....what are peoples thoughts?

The fact that I've never sen one in a store locally might have something to do with its unknown quality. All we have to go by is Berlin's name and a handful of reviews. Personally never bought a bass without playing it first, could be very well made but doesn't work for me for one reason or another. The market is so awash with high quality/low price basses that its hard to break through with a new instrument. Why don't you write a review here and post some sound clips?

I might make a review yes, and it terms of sound quality I think with the right touch you can get amazing tone out of it, I'm not the most advanced player ever and I can still produce what I think is great tone. I think it was more the feel of the bass when I picked it up, very light and the neck is quite thin is made it so easy to move around the fingerboard and was just so smooth. I am gifted with abnormally large hands but even this neck feels so comfortable in my hands! I would suggest anyone giving them ago if they find them in their local store.

These passive pickups are amazing! I have played quite a few basses and never have got the same impact out of a bass. I'm using 45-100 strings and it still sounds so very full and warm, but I can also make it very bright.

I most definitely cant complain about the hipshot tuners!

Basstheworld on youtube has a few videos with guys playing these. They sound spectacular. I would be all over a 5 of I could inspect and play it first. They have top notch hardware and Cort basses are always really well made despite being cheaper.

I caved in and just bought one!

I picked up an older GB75 a few weeks ago and fell in love with the sleek Jazz body shape and the ultra light weight. The GB75 really appreciated pickup and electronics upgrades, hopefully the Berlin will not need a thing.

Pretty handsome looking basses. At $1000-$1050 MSRP with Bartolini pickups and Babicz FCH bridges I'd say they should attract some interest. Cort produces some very high quality gear.

Hi,
I just found one of these. Always been intrigued by the look and tone.
All I can say is it is a wonderful bass. Two things stuck out right away. Great feeling neck, and the pickups sound
amazing for a passive bass. The build quality is great. Very punchy sounding bass.

I must say this was new out of the box. The setup from the factory was Bad, real bad. Nut was off. Bridge needed adjustment. The strings were horrible. And pickup height was off.
Cort should fire their QC control.
Aside from that. With a little work bass play's and sounds great. I dig it.

weird that it was wonky, Cort is typically good to go. can it pull off a great vintage P tone?

I Love this bass!!!
I got my Motown tone (blend knob=80% neck & tone knob=1%) and funk growl all in the one weapon.
I got 10 other's (Fenders, Spectors, Ibanez, Yamaha, more Cort) and this bass always gets my nod of approval... Thanks Jeff for giving us your preferred setup. I Love this bass...! ... Only 1 thing that keeps me wondering. Like my Ibanez MC924, I wish it had an ebony fretboard, wow. Now that would be awesome. Nonetheless, I Love this bass..!!!

Could you get it low with out filing the nut?
