I have used my Nightbass SE as a pre into power to see how it sounds. I personally thought it worked very well. I didn't lose any volume switching between the factory preamp and the Nightbass preamp.
I think you just have to try it and see if it works for you sound wise. For me, my Nightbass is my emergency stage backup if my head takes a dump.
