I'm looking for a light portable bass amp for worship services, etc. Looks like the tc would fit the bill nicely but sometimes I'm asked to fill in for guitar, and right now I can only afford one amp. Any idea on how a guitar would sound thru this amp?

Thanks in advance for any advice. I could sell one of my guitars to get both the tc and say a fender deluxe, but would hate to part with any of the (few) guitars I've got left!

Thanks in advance,

Dave

The Peavey Vypyr is made for both if you don't mind a combo amp. I've had pleasing results playing guitar through bass amps if I use some sort of tube emulator like a BDDI or something like that. Also, if the venue is properly equipped, I've used a bassman model on my Zoom B3 with guitar going direct through the PA and it sounded great. A lot of people don't think of playing a guitar direct as an option, but if you have the gear it doesn't sound bad at all. With an IEM system, there's no reason you couldn't just show up with a B3, or similar direct unit depending on your needs, and use just that.

The Vypyr is not a good choice for bass outside of low volume studio use. It's an open-backed guitar cab. Ime, electric guitar can work through a bass amp, but it's not ideal. Much better to use a bass amp with bass, and get a small guitar combo amp for guitar.

From the BG250 Club thread--

I just received my BG250 yesterday. As a guitar player now trying bass, I very much like the amp although my experience with others is limited.

On the other hand, I plugged in my guitar and got a killer clean tone from the BG250. 250 watts in a 35 lb amp doesn't exist for guitar. Still working on the tube settings but it didn't produce a decent dirt sound. Maybe needs an effects box in front.
