Couple questions about Loopmaster

Hey all, couple of questions here just to double check before I place an order:

- Tuner out vs another loop - Is there an advantage to having a dedicated tuner out vs another loop? Can't I just send to the the tuner with no return? I suppose the tuner switch functions as a master mute, but if I engage only the switch with the tuner, and no return, am I not doing the same thing?

- the power is only for the LEDs, correct? This is a purely mechanical switch, and will function without power?

Yes but, when you're tuning, and using a loop for tuning, it will not be silent as they are not wired for this specific application. You will faintly hear the notes when tuning.

If you get a model that has a tuner out on it and you use it for that, bleedover will not occur.

And:

LED models use Boss/Ibanez style 9v barrel-style adapter for led power only.

So I guess that answers that, thanks. I bet I can live with 'faint' bleeding through whilst tuning....

Apologies for being a little off-topic but I just built my own based on parts from pedalpartsplus. It wasn't cheap - parts alone plus shipping cost $83 but I know every intimate detail about my looper.

The one thing special wiring (not your standard loop) does is shorts the input signal to the rest of the signal chain to ground. I have a 5 switch looper but I setup the first switch to be a tuner-only loop - send only no receive. When this switch is activated, the input to the rest of the pedal chain is shorted to ground to minimize noise.

There's a nice DIY for wiring loopers at singlecoil.com if you want to see wiring diagrams. The diagrams include a master bypass as well as tuner only setups alongside the standard loop wiring. I didn't do a master bypass, only the tuner loop in the first switch position.

My LEDs are wired completely separately from the rest of the circuits (including the power). I used the third position on the 3P3T switches to activate the LEDs.
