Covers Better Than The Original

I don't see how this is even considered. An original song is an original song; whether you like it or not that is the original song. But to say covers are better is not a factual statement considering that is based 100% on opinion than fact. I have covers that I prefer to the original but I would never say they are better than the original, just different and I prefer it.

The Eagles cover of Seven Bridges Road or the original by Steve Young or the cover by Ian Matthews. Young actually recorded two versions of the song. However, The Eagles got their arrangement and vocal harmonies from the cover by Ian Matthews. They are all good in their own right.

I bought CD while on a trip in the mid 90s sometime. It was of an artist I had never heard of before called Sinead Lohan. I was desperate for something new and she filled the bill nicely. I really like the entire CD No Mermaid. This song was a stand out. Years later I was thrilled to find it covered on a CD I had purchased by Nickle Creek. It's a less forlorn performance but still conveys the heart and soul of the song. It's beautifully done as only Nickle Creek and it.
