Crackling sound...

Recently I noticed that there was an irritating buzzing, crackling sound coming from my amp whenever I played a note. The sound gets louder the lower the note is. There's also a burst of what sounds like static that fades away quickly whenever I turn on the amp. I assumed that my amp had something caught in it that was vibrating or that the cone had ripped, so I plugged in my secondary amp...The same thing happened. I tried a different cable and the sound still persisted. My bass has a battery in the back that powers the EQ so I replaced that with a fresh one and the problem was still there.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the pickups, but I'm no expert. Any help?
