We have something similar to craigslist in my country. I only used it once, and found the band of my dreams. Not only that, I made some really great friends, and I made lots of different connections through them, I know plenty of great musicians I can call up, so I never have to put up with any of this crap. All it takes is a little luck, so I wouldn't give up on Craigslist so easily unless you have other options.
