Craigslist scam??

Ok, since I have put a number of things on CL recently, and have gotten odd reply's for both a DBX EQ and a Eden head.

First, for the EQ, the guy says (in some kinda broken or quickly typed english) that he will give me the $110, but is going to send a check for.... wait for it.... -TWO GRAND-. I am supposed to cash this check, take the 110 plus another $100 for my running around... then give the cash to his "mover" who is going to come pick up the eq... and the remainder of the money...

Second, I just got a similar reply for the head... different address... same behavior though. Said he will send a check ($750 for a used head sight unseen is a little...well...risky??) and, again, have his "mover" come pick it up.

does anyone smell money laundering??

Forget laundering. It is a well known scam. The check will be a good looking phony, usually good enough to deposit before it bounces. The only money involved will be yours.

They get your cash plus your gear. You get an ovedraft on your account when their check turns to fairie dust.

Ditto, scam. I recently ran an ad for computer services, got a replay asking for a quote for reloading the OS and free antivirus on 8 used laptops. gave the guy a quote. Next I hear he has sent me a check for like $2000.00 over the quote. I am to take his check, and pay his shipper when the laptops are delivered, then for the extra money have the laptops ready in three days and send them out through his shipper.

I told them I didn't agree to be his shipping agent He said he was shocked and disappointed that I was saying his check was no good. Told me it and the laptops were already on the way. Needless to say, the check and the laptops never arrived.
