Crazy Idea...

Hey there! This is my first post on talkbass but I joined so I could ask about this and see your thoughts. I'm leading a band this year, but also play keyboard for piano intros to songs, but the awkwardness of leaving my 'comfort zone' of my hands on the bass has made me think about what I could do with midi. After a lot of looking, I brought it to two options in order to have a small midi keyboard on my bass:
1. Buy a left handed bass so the knobs are on the side closer to me, leaving space on the body below the strings to put the small keyboard (a little over a foot long ideally and hopefully less than *4* inches, very iffy if 5 inches wide), but I can't find any basses with a big enough body to not have the keyboard hang over the edge plus I would need to move/install the strap knob on the smaller 'arch' closer to me.
2. Buy a double-necked bass/lead guitar (I found a relatively cheap one online) and remove the lead guitar neck (further from myself) and pickups, giving me ample space to put my small keyboard in it's place. I preferred this idea :)

Either way I go with this, I'll need to find a keyboard that has midi out in order for me to control my keyboard, not USB midi, meaning that it would sadly have to either be battery powered or plugged into something (which would not be ideal for me...I like space). For making everything less cluttered on the bass, it would be preferable to run the midi cord through the bass and out near the bass guitar output, but I suppose that's not something I should ask the internet about.
Thanks in advance to everyone that responds to this, I know this is kinda weird, but it'd be super cool to accomplish, especially with your help!!

Maybe it's just me, but I can't see how adding a keyboard to your bass would make things less cluttered. Small as you are talking about, rig something to mount to a mic stand.

I considered putting a smaller keyboard on a stand, but it results in the same awkward ness for me. I don't tap well on bass, so covering bass and playing the riffs would be a lot easier if it's right there on the bass (I pluck then play the keyboard without having to speedily reach). Thanks for the response, though!
