Having been one of the very early adopters of the 5, and then 6 string contrabass, I spent over a decade as an ERB snob. Newfound GAS for Warwicks brought me to the Fenders, and since most of these are 4-bangers, I now find myself enthralled with 4-bangers once again. What comes around...
Now, a 2 stringer? I find that intriguing. Every different bass (and I own basses with 4, 5, 6, 7 and 12 strings) evokes a different style and approach to playing. It actually is very inspirational. I like the longbow bass, and would be interested to play one. I happen to like a wide variety of music, and actually am a bit of a fan of POTUS. They have less than a guitar's worth of strings between them, and they rock quite hard indeed.
I think this 2-string bass is a piece of art.
Now, as for the nomeclature issue with Europe, etc. FOGHAT. No, I don't mean the band. I mean the phrase that the band name represents (hint: I can't type it here).
You gotta be kidding me (although I've heard this before). All I can say is: I play by ear. THANK GOODNESS. Given the insanity that is notation, I think I'd rather shove daggers into my eyes, than even attempt to begin to fathom it. I can only be thankful for my ears, which have allowed me to learn and play music with great freedom throughout my life, without ever having to endure the torture that is fly $#!+.
