Crest Audio CA9 Now I understand.

What you and your friends have set out to convince us all about, you have actually done the opposite. There must be a reason you have dire need to "Level the Playing Field".

Just saying.

Please. Are you seriously insinuating that Bob Lee has been spamming your thread with misinformation in an unethical attempt to protect his company's market share? :eyebrow:

The differences were very slight, but still there.

Sounds exactly what I used to say about the CA6 before I learned how to gain match.

What I learned in the gain matched blind test is that two identical cabs can sound very different from one another, but that power amps I have sound the same when run below clipping, just as their specs say they should.

Here is a valid question. Can there be a Crest CA9 Thread without the need to mention how another amp manufacturer is positively unequivically most certainly insistently for sure absolutely no doubt about it yeah thats right step right up you heard it here equall to the CA9?

This whole insetient nonsense is begining to make me consider why?

I've been on this board for a long time and I've never, ever seen Bob Lee shill for QSC. He's a very knowledgeable, helpful guy, who knows his stuff about power amplifiers. His advice is extremely sound and does not just pertain to QSC.

The fact that you and some other folks are completely ignoring what he has to say on power amplifiers is your failing, not his.

As for myself, I don't even remotely have a dog in this fight as I work in the hi-fi business (as an amplifier designer). I do find it strange that people will out and out discount the advice of pros in the field in favour of purely anecdotal experience, though. Why anyone would conduct a test of amplifiers without holding an important variable constant, especially after they've been made aware of that variable is beyond my comprehension.

And I don't believe that all power amplifiers are made equal, either. I know that in real world testing there are things that might differentiate one amp from another (i.e. clipping behaviour). However, there's no way to accurately sort that out without holding the gain variable constant.

Anyway, I'll say no more about it as it's clear that my input isn't welcome. Have fun wallowing in your own ignorance.

I have also never seen in any post, Bob Lee try and push QSC over other makers. He gives quality advice and he knows what he is talking about. I've always appreciated his posts.

As with any piece of gear...to each his own. Just because I say the CA-9 is IMO a superior amp for bass, does not necessarily make it so. FWIW, we use two PLX3102's in our PA to drive our PA speakers, along with a couple QSC RMX 1450's for the monitors and they work great.

Oddly, whether I'm on a gig, at band rehearsal, or at home doing private practice...I don't give any of this stuff a second thought. Why? Because my gear (as humble as it may be) sounds plenty good to let me focus on the music and the fun connected with that music. Wish I could get more worked up about stuff like this, but I'm just not feelin' it. :p It is, however, entertaining and educational to follow discussions such as this one. I'll say it again...carry on, mates! ;):D

Water? Ha! If it looks like **** and smells like **** guess what it usually is?

BTW guys I dont take any of this serious.

I'm not insinuating anything.

Here is what I am asking. Look at every CA9 Thread. There can not be a Thread about the CA9 without the Gain Match Crowd coming to the rescue. I have readily admitted the CA9 has more Gain. What is the need to push this down everyones throat? What is it?

Can we not have a CA9 Thread without defending everyone else and insisting that the playing field need leveling.

I think I'm going to delete this Thread and start a new one. The new thread is going to be about the CA9 and it's merits only. The first mention of this other endless BS and I'll just delete it and start another.

I'm not ignoring anything. How many times must it be said that the CA9 has more Gain than the rest and that somehow is cheating? How many times? How many?

I think Bob and some others need to place a Banner Add about it and get it out of their system so the rest of us can talk about these amps without being interupted.

Blah, blah, blah...

Hmmm, maybe if you didn't point this out every other posting, the topic would go away! Seems to me that you actually like having this argument...:o
