It’s funny, for years I thought that “How Do You Do It?” was one of those throwaway songs that the Beatles would farm out to their Liverpool contemporaries, like Cilla Black, as it sounded like the real poppy stuff they’d come up with. But it was a tune from outside writers, the Fabs passed, and passed it on to Gerry. I can’t believe how high he wore his guitar, it aways looked so uncomfortable.

People of his stature, younger let alone older, were dying in 2019, and will continue to do so this year, whether or not covid factors in. There’s going to be more and more of the end of the ‘silent generation’ (technically where the Beatles and their peers are from)and the beginning of the baby boomers fading away from general natural causes, along with the occasional long term conditions(I think we’re past the ‘death by misadventure’ stage). It’s just that time. It’s not the year; 2021 has great potential to be just as weird, but in its own way.

I just found out today that he died, RIP Gerry, always loved the EB-2 bass sound Les Chadwick got. Yup, it seems like we're at that time that all my childhood heros are passing away.
