I play my bass like a guitar, but I've never played guitar. I just like the way it sounds, thank you very much. :scowl: FYI, there's no "right" way to play a bass, just play the damn thing.

Many people have no idea how to use an old tube preamp like this with their modern gear. Or they don't have the playing skills to get good sounds out of it - they have been playing ultra high gain, solid state pedals and amps all their lives and when they try to play vintage tube gear it sounds like crapola, so they blame it on the gear of course. But I know how to use and play things like this to get the best out of them, and I'll let you guys know what I think of it after I get it.

Most people know how to use old tube gear. Only the brain-dead can't figure out the 4 or 5 knobs and switches on it within the first 15 minutes of playing through it. Most modern gear is more hi-fi and will express nuances of your playing that vintage gear never dreamed of...so playing skills HAVE to be better. Maybe some people just don't like how it sounds? That being said, I'd love an old Green/Matamp rig. Just don't have the cash for it.

I think what you mean is there's no ONE right way to play a bass. I say this because I'd say it's generally accepted that there are wrong ways.
