Curious: AGB (Aria FEB FL/F) Trapeze MOD???

Curious, has anyone tried to mod an AGB with a trapeze tailpiece? What are the benefits and what are the pitfalls?

Given the top is probably built to withstand the forces of stopping the strings mid top it may be too stiff to work as a transducer for a floating bridge and tailpiece. But again it may work as that would mostly apply to acoustic operation. If piezos and amplified it probably wouldn't matter. Worst would be finishing the area where the original bridge is removed and filling holes.

I was thinking of keeping the saddle as is and just adding the trapeze to hold the strings (rather than the pegs). The tension on the saddle would be different, obviously. The piezo is under the saddle.

Then not sure what you will gain other then visual. The changed break angle over the saddle may affect the piezo output.

I do prefer the trapeze aesthetics and dislike the pins for mounting the strings. I'm a bit concerned with the piezo output if it changes the 'quality of sound' too much, output level is not much of a concern as I tend to run the preamp pretty low.

What are those worth? I personally would find the presence of the original bridge and holes in the top distracting from any aesthetic gain from adding a tailpiece. But that is personal preference. So I'll vote no.
