Curious Cab port question?

The old Peavey Databass combo's were ported on the bottom, and had tiny feet.:)

Marketing speak for front ports--direct the sound toward your audience.

Rear ports--bounce off wall/spread around like openback guitar cab

Bottom ports--rumble the dancefloor/shake the room

Top ports--aid in amp cooling/easy access to stash

Side ports--throw sound around the room, not a bad seat in the house

I built a sub cab for the back of my old Jeep - yes, I know it's not a bass cab. It's got 2 12s, 2 tweeters, and a port on each side. Had to put them on the side to fit the necessary dimensions. Space was tight. That cab is now in the back of my 4Runner. My truck freaking booms!

Back to the topic, my 8x10 is ported at the bottom. All of my combo amps and cabs have been bottom ported.

You need to clarify that 'marketing speak' means that, while all those scenarios seem plausible, none are true. :hmm:

I've got a small sealed cab that Im thinking about adding an optional port to. How well would it work if I had the port on under side of the cab (bottom) with 1" rubber feet keeping it off the floor? The cab has an internal volume of 1.7 cubic feet and I would be using either an eminence Delta 15lf or CA154 bass driver.

1.7 cubic feet for a 15? Thats not a lot of space for anything.. The correct port would have to be bigger than the box methinks.. Conceptually some of the real high-end neos may work in something that small, but in reality it isn't workable.. Besdies the two drivers you mention need a LOT bigger box..

Im currently using either in a sealed box that size and was wondering if I could install a port to get a different sound and then plug it for the sealed sound. I guess that I was looking for a port size and length that would work with either one in this cab size.
