Curious: Does anyone make a bass with a "V-Neck" profile anymore?

Years back I played a Fender Custom Shop '58 Precision Bass - Limited Edition 2005 NAMM - that was hanging on the wall of the Redondo Beach Guitar Center. Is had a pronounced "V" neck. Fender specs call it a "Soft V Profile." I really dug it. The entire bass was spectacular. The one that got away.

I have two basses with soft V profiles- an original 56 P Bass and an 82 57 Fullerton RI. My experience is the same as Harry's- they are the most comfortable necks to play for me. I like the 56 best of all. I find they encourage better thumb position- I don't know why, they just do.
I have had mates who are strictly Jazz Bass players say that the 56 is the most comfortable Fender neck they have ever played. They love it.
The 56 "feels" much narrower than it really is . It is actually the same width at the nut as my 69 Telebass (classic baseball bat profile)- 45 mm. The Fullerton is a mm wider but still feels narrower. So I know what Harry is saying about the feel of these old V necks. As far as I know, Fender Custom Shop offers it as an option and a quick check of eBay just now indicates that they use it in some of their runs- I saw Custom Shop 55s and 57 with V neck profiles for sale.
The specs for the current 58 AVRI indicate a C neck profile, not sure about older ones- certainly my 82 has a soft V profile.
I have often wished that Fender would offer soft V profiles in their more reasonably priced offerings.

Wal mk1 are all soft v as far as I know

The older Wals do but I don't detect much if any V on my new MKI.

Good to know! I've only played the old ones, I just assumed they were unchanged.

My 2009 new era Wal MkII defintely has the V profile. It's a little on the 'soft' side.
The 2000 Mk I had had a really slim neck with a very sharp V. So far that was the best neck I've had.

Speaking of Wal basses, they all definitely have a V shaped neck; early ones had very hard V shapes, but a "softened" version was offered free of charge and, since the majority of customers took the soft V way, shapes got softer and softer as years went by.
When in 2010 I went to UK to place the order for my MKII, the above came to mind and I then asked for a Hard V shaped neck for it.
The more I play it, the happier I get [emoji6]
