Curley

Hi guys

Does anyone remember Curley (or Curly) bass guitars ? They were lightweight basses which were quite popular in the early 80's and were primarily used for playing funk (slap bass) because of their metallic sound. Does this brand still exist or if not is there an active secondhand market for them ?

The name was S. D. Curlee, if I remember correctly. As far as I know, they have been out of business for many years. They were initially made in the USA but towards the end, they were made overseas by Hondo. As far as the used market, have you looked on e-Bay?

They do show up on Ebay once or twice a year that I've seen. Anecdotally, I have read reviews that say the trussrods tended to rattle in the neck and that the playability was nowhere near the looks. But again, I have no first-hand experience.
