I have a P-Bass with a lightweight ash body, Fender Japan RI 62 Pbass neck, Hipshot Ultrlights and a Gotoh (201?) bridge. Bass is VERY comfortable and well balanced. However it has always had quite a bright, almost lightweight, tone.
Have settled on Fender 9050 50-100 flats (used Chromes and LaBellas as well) and a Fender Ultra Vintage 63 pup (tried Duncan, Fralin, EMG). The UV63 is the best/biggest/deepest/beefiest so far.

While the Fender pup is satisfactory, I cannot help but think the PB-CC might put it over the top...

SO - does anyone have experience / insight / advise on this design from Mr. Novak?

I have a PB-90 which is a similar pickup with slightly different tonal goals. I love the pickup and everything from Mr. Novak that I've tried so far. My pickup will have more mids where the CC will be a bit more scooped therefore making it sound like it has more bass and treble going on.

Hopefully that helps a little!
