nice. After seeing it with strings on, I think we can confirm that the fretboard is still definitely the focal point.

that's one thing I love about 6+ string basses, is that if you have a great piece of wood, there's more of it to be shown off
Jason, you bring up a good point I haven't thought of before. If I were to use the same spec on a 4 string bass I don't think it would have worked visually. The fact that the width of the board is as wide as it is makes it work. This is an interesting concept in design that I haven't applied to a build, unless you count this instrument which was inadvertent at best. Hmmm....

I agree about some specs working more on different sized basses. For example, that sweet purpleheart binding (or whatever you call it) on the fretboard might look a bit "busy" on a four string.

Yeah! somewhere down the line when I was picking out my woods I realized I had a HUGE canvas to be filled(specially for the fretless) and that got me on a mission to find the craziest wood possible. which consequently, its REALLY hard to find exotic woods for basses this huge, since most suppliers are trying to get as many fretboards out of a piece of wood as possible,
I definitely agree with you. the little purple heart binding on this 7 adds a little color to the edges, whereas on a 4 it would have been much more noticeable as part of the design asthetic

The bass made it safely. Wow is it beautiful! Chris out did himself, I'll try and post some shots when I get home from work. I may leave early..lol
I am stunned at how great this bass sounds! You can dial in SO many tones and they all sound fantastic. The preamp is wicked...off to play more..lol

See the problem is if I'm taking pictures of the bass I'm not playing. And that's about all that has happened since I got it..lol I am playing as I type..really!
