custom built bass idea

i got an idea for building a bass once i get the money. it'll be a while before i get the money for parts, but it should turn out to be really cool. what id like to do is start out with an sx jazz bass of some sort, so i at least have an actual bass to build off of. the neck is gonna need a maple fretboard with black block inlays. then, ill get a warmoth alder explorer bass body with all 4 holes still drilled. ill paint it black myself so i dont need to pay another $185 for a flat colored paintjob. then, ill get set of emg jazz pickups and an emg bts system so all 4 front holes are being used. top it off with all gold hardware. i think it would turn out looking pretty cool. i was just wondering what other peoples thoughts were, if anyone had suggestions to better the design, if anything just isnt possible, etc. any input will be appreciated. thanks!

Sounds good - I'd go with black hardware, though (IMHO).

Instead of waiting 'til you have all the cash at once, you should buy the parts bit by bit... it'll give you something to strive for & you'll feel better & better as the pieces of the puzzle come together!

BTW - Rondo has the neck your looking for right now for $25.00 (no nut slot, but that would be quick & easy to do). Good excuse to start gathering your items, right?
