New Multieffect Device: BOSS GX-1B - Thoughts from the Community?

Hi everyone from Germany,

Two weeks ago, my brand-new BOSS GX-100/GX-10 arrived. I've dialed in about 8 of my own patches so far, but I'm still on the fence.

What are your thoughts on this unit?

Up until now, I've mostly used a Diamond BCP-1, a Schalltechnik_04 "NE_04" (a DIY parametric EQ based on the Yamaha NE-1), and a Schalltechnik_04 "VONG" (a HPF/LPF with a built-in DI, also a DIY build). Paired with my Sandberg TM5 on stainless steel strings, that setup gave me a very clear, crisp, and hi-fi tone.

Looking ahead, I'll probably need more creative effects that my analog board just can't handle. But to be honest, I'm not 100% convinced yet because I haven't been able to fully recreate the sound I've played for years. On the flip side, every time I practice with the BOSS, I don't feel like anything is actually missing...

It's weird—how can it feel so different, yet at the same time I don't miss my old rig until I start overthinking it?

Are you talking about the GX-1B, the GX-100 or the GX-10 ?

Attempting to untangle the confusing opening post:

The thread starter, bandchef, ordered and has now received both a Boss GX-10 and a Boss GX-100.

Note: bandchef may actually have ordered and received only one of those but may be using the designation "BOSS GX-100/GX-10" because the sound engine is apparently the same for both, with the two differing only in size, number of switches, and number of connectivity options.

bandchef has programmed about 8 patches into the GX-10 and the GX-100, or only the one or the other, so far.

Now bandchef is thinking about ordering a Boss GX-1B and is asking for thoughts on that unit.

"It's weird—how can it feel so different, yet at the same time I don't miss my old rig until I start overthinking it?" is a separate question that is not relevant to the request for thoughts on the GX-1B.

If any of that is inaccurate, bandchef, please clarify.
