CUSTOM GAUGE STRINGS

I have a question TB, i currently use .136-.102-.076-.057-.041
circle k strings on my 5 str basses. Lately i've been wanting to try a .142-.106-.079-.059-.043. set. My question is; would i have to widen the nut to fit the 142? i do not want to widen any of my basses nuts. hopefully some experience to chime in. thanks in advance.

You might... no way to know without seeing your nut. If it can take the .136, it might be able to take the .142. The only way to know is order it and see how it fits.

The nut should be able to accommodate the larger string gauge. We're talking about .02-.04" difference which is almost nothing.

Filing the nut is not that hard to do. I wrap sandpaper around drill bits, just be careful to not go to deep.
A 9/64" drill bit is .140625" so if that fits your string should fit.
P.S. that .142 is worth it
