Custom pickguard

Trying to flip a bass and need a new custom pickguard made. Who makes the cheapest, and still acceptable, guards. Bass is not an expensive one, so trying to stay on budget..don't need more in the guard that the bass is worth. I've used Pickguard Planet and they do a good job, but not the cheapest around. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance..

I'm sorry to tell you this, but a one-off custom pickguard isn't going to be cheap. It's going to be about $20 of material and several hours' labor. I speak from experience of having made up many hundreds of custom pickguards. Pickguard Planet has about the most efficient setup for doing customs, because that's their specialty. The only way pickguards are cheaper than them is if they are ordered in big batches (a few hundred) from an overseas manufacturer.

Of course, the least expensive way to get a custom pickguard is to make it yourself. It isn't that hard and can be done with hand tools on a workbench. There are many threads here on TalkBass about making pickguards.
