I've worked on an American Vintage '62 RI strat, and the pickup pole pieces where beveled. I also own a NOS custom shop '59 p-bass, and the pickup pole pieces where beveled.
I have also see a ton of vintage fenders, and the pole pieces are never beveled. I don't know why fender decided that this was ok to do on their reissues. They just don't look vintage, ya know? Do they think there is some sort of sonic superiority? Anyhow, both instrument's pickups where soon replaced...
