Cut my D string too short :(

In the future put your string in the bridge pull it toward the nut to the next post after,, even between the next after that ,, like if they are inline fender keys,, e string pull between a and d string,, cut it right there in between,, using this method you will never cut short ,, might be long but hey,, longer is better than shorter IMO ,, if it side by side headstock , take the a string out to the end of the headstock same with the the d,, foolproof.

That is a proper knot that will hold (even with different diameter ropes or cables). I've pulled lots of tree trunks out of the woods with a tractor using that knot (sheet bend).

Don't worry about something snapping (usually the core breaks and the outer winds stretch), ulike an unwound guit string.

That could be absoutly lethal if it snaps. Do you have any idea how much PSI there is when it's up to tune? it's something llike...300 kg.
Didn't mean to sound like a jerk there. Sorry.

But i think you're S.O.L man. but for next time, why don't you string up the bass first, THEN cut it? I put new strings on my bass yesterday and haven't cut em yet.
