Was there obvious damage to the box? If not, whoever sold it to you will cover the repair if they are halfway reasonable. If UPS is responsible, $100 should more than cover the cost of fixing a cut power cord.
Anybody with electronics experience should have no trouble putting a new cord on there for you if the seller doesn't cooperate.
The local repair shop said $75/hour + cost of cord. Should opening it up and putting a new one in take more than an hour?
If the inside of a Groove Bass head looks like Medusa's hair... it'll take more.
Kidding... it's a short procedure. It's just a matter of removing the old one and putting a new one in. A soldering iron and a general idea of what goes where are all you need.
There are literally only three wires to consider - two AC wires and the ground wire.![]()

i know some about electronics, but not much... is this a simple process?
It should be! Are you comfortable with popping open the cover on the amp and snapping a picture?
Usually, most amps use spade connectors anyways, so it'll be even easier than that!

Send it back at their expense and let them fix it.
I guess. The guy shouldn't have to make the repair to save them money, though. I don't know how good he solders but I'd be more than a little worried about my soldering skills on an AC cable.i don't think this is such a huge problem that its worth sending it back over. I mean if it was bought from a shop then by all means. But having to deal with shipping waiting around the risk of being damaged in shipping. It really isn't worth it. At most get a refund for the cost of the repair. I think that would be a fair result for both parties.
