Cut power cord :(

Wow, Pbassred probably just said the most sensible thing in this thread yet. That is definitely a possibility, one nobody else thought of.

Who would have thought that a thread about a cut power cable would be the hot topic of the night?!?


this is a pretty interesting drama isn't is JimmyM? Lots of possible answers. Makes for good copy for sure. :)

While in the US Navy, it was customary to cut off cords on unsafe electrical devices - typical causes were missing ground prongs, damaged insulation, etc... I'm not saying this is the case here, but Sam makes a good point...

Yeah, I've done that, too. The cut cord may mean "don't even think of plugging this one in."

If I were replacing the cord, I'd check it afterwards by using a variable transformer to ramp up the AC voltage and an AC ammeter to monitor the current. That way, if something's screwed up with the amp, I could detect it at a low voltage where it's not likely to cause further damage.
