CWB 16: Taking Canada

Hey Everyone!
Been away for a while because the end of the school year is always a bit hectic and I've been swamped with other jobs. Looks like everyone is having a blast and being devilish as always :)

I wanted to share some NBD news with my MoCWB and CWB peeps! But first let me say that Donovan of Fretspot.com was absolutely amazing to work with in every aspect of this purchase. He was always a pleasure to speak with and he went out of way to make sure that I was completely satisfied. I very highly recommend purchasing from him.

Ok so...
This last year I cleared out my modest sized collection with the exception of two Modulus basses. In the process I ordered two basses to complete my setup ( and lessen the pain of parting with my gear and the memories)

So here is the first one to arrive!!!
Fodera Emperor 5 Standard
slap, pop, and tap like a butterfly
It arrived on Wednesday and I had to give it a setup thanks to FM's FedEx man ( actually probably his cousin or something)! Thursday I took it to practice and played it for about 4 hrs. It felt like I've owned it forever. The sounds cover basically every Fender-ish / Musicman sound you could ever want, but with a clarity, richness and depth I never found in other basses over the years.

Honestly, even though it felt great and sounds amazing, I was slow in the warming up to it because I've played graphite - carbon fiber neck basses for the last 12 years or so. But, after playing it acoustically for a couple hours, my thoughts are that they are absolutely incredible basses.

Is it worth the scratch?... meh, I'd like a matching headstock and a choice of hardware finish for this price.
As far as playability and sound go they are worth every penny in my book. This will be my last fretted 5 string unless something happens to it.

I'll post some clips as my summer opens up a bit. Still transitioning from school insanity to my summer to do list :)

Mule

Congrats on the new bass! It's beautiful...and, well, you know....if you ever want some bass w/chick pics....I am only a tank of gas away. :D (and I swear I won't try to swap out one of my less pretty basses into the case while you're otherwise distracted, and keep the Fodera....I swear.):D

Thanks Tom :) I recall playing a 5 string fretless of yours that had a similar vibe. The minute I picked it up it felt like I'd played it forever. Your work is fantastic!

Going to try to get some sound clips down this afternoon,... er maybe mow my lawn,... nope, forget the lawn.

I'd mow the lawn barefoot, but with my luck I'd find every lucy bomb and catch another dog toy in the pants.

One day I'll get to touch Tom's instrument....:p

With a special guest appearance by one of her Pips. He was hysterically funny, if you look at the expressions on everyone else's faces you can tell they're all laughing hard:

Hope this isn't too many pics. The show was a ton of fun, and the audience got to here a few 'back in the day' stories, which were great! She was performing on the same stage that she met Luther Vandross on the very first time. :p

Oh my. I am missing a good time! :bawl:

You did last night. And everyone but me and my poor tortured son missed out on the trip to the ER. No, PA didn't exactly break my butt, but I did get injured last night. Wrong person, wrong place, wrong time on the dancefloor knocked me off balance. No one hit the floor, but the sober one in sneakers (that would be me) ended up with a dislocated hip and some seriously bruised muscles.

According to the grouchy man at the ER, I will live and my pain should serve as a reminder that after a certain age, we aren't supposed to do some things. No, I didn't hit him. It would have hurt too bad. Instead, I just mumbled "speak for yourself" under my breath and hobbled for the door with my prescriptions in hand.

Oh my! Screw that doctor. Dance until you die. :)
Feel better fast!

Yeah - it took less than an hour for the pain meds to kick in. :D They work fast on an empty stomach.

However,.....now that I think about it......I have it on medical authority that IS possible to dance your @$$ off. Or at least dance until it breaks. :D

They work fast if you fill your stomach with alcohol, too. Please feel better asap.

I think I'm going to avoid the alcohol kicker tonight. I have to be on an 8AM flight. But - for those who want a laugh and know how to find me outside TB, call, email, text away because for the next few hours, I will not be responsible for a single, solitary, goofy thing I say.

Oh jeez Tat! Get well really soon.

Glad that you are ok, save for the soreness. Piss on what the grouchy man in the ER says. Was he a wrinkled-up fragile puss-bag? I think he was jealous..

This makes #1000..what will be CWB 17 be?
