D13 Bass Amps...

Justin: Can you give a brief run down the D13 bass amps? I’m guessing that since it says “tones in the style of players like… Justin Meldal-Johnsen” in the description of the amp, that you’re using the RDT. Have you also tried the TBL?

I’m curious about these amps because I love what they’ve done over the last few years with their guitar models, but the D13 dealer in Pittsburgh doesn’t have any of the bass amps [yet I hope…?]

I have the TBL200. With a 4 x 12. It smokes. So dynamic and responsive. Super fun to play through. EQ controls are old-school - not particularly active. Good points, though. Driving the pre yields delicious sounds. Build quality is perfection.

I believe the players listed in the RDT's description is more about who Fred had in mind when designing the amp regarding musicians who's playing style might gravitate towards the character of the amp. I don't think he makes the claim that each of those players owns and/or use that particular amp.

I know this is unsolicited, but I own both the RDT and the TBL with the 4x12. The RDT is a remarkably loud amp and the sound is absolutely amazing.

I have to say that his take on all of the amps which inspired his bass models are remarkable, unique and, as Justin said, SO MUCH FUN to play through.

You don't have the option to drive the pre on the RDT...you just have to blow the roof off the joint if you really want to dig into the tubes. It has a bit more of an aggressive character to it overall already though, so you don't have to turn it up to 7 in order to get a good grind. "Urgent" is the word Fredric uses to describe it, and I think it's appropriate.

Rad. Thanks for the input. Like I said before, there aren't any at the shop around that I know has their guitar amps. Hopefully I'll get to check them out soon.
