D'Addario Black Nylon Tapewound Strings

I think I saw you mention that you've been using the Black Nylon Tapewound strings in addition to Chromes.

If so, how would you compare the sound to Chromes? The little mellow/bright scale on D'addario site shows them as being a little brighter than Chromes, which seems odd, since every bass I've played with tapewounds has been really dull and thumpy.

I love Chromes, but I'm intrigued by the tapewounds.

They're brighter than other tapewounds I've heard. Very special. You should just grab some and try them out, I have to say...they're worth the price for sure.

So are they brighter than Chromes, or just different? Do they last longer because of the wrapping?

Different - and yes, they seem to last a good long while, though I don't play them too often yet.
