D'Addario black nylon tapewounds

Root 5 said:
As far as I know, Rotosound & Labella tapes are flatwounds wrapped in tape.

Fender & GHS strings are roundwounds wrapped in tape. Now maybe the new D'addario strings are the same. :-(

I had an older Labella (D or G I recall) tape unwind the wrapping on me and it was roundwound...maybe they've changed something recently?

I'm not sure why anybody would want nylon tape wound flats - It's not like it's gonna make them flatter or deader or somethin' ;) . AFAIK all nylon tapewounds are roundwound underneath. My RS88S's get most of the "growl" of roundwounds without the "zing" and fret noise of nekkid roundwounds :D .

...From what I can gather, D'Addario released these in December 2010.

Thanks for input!

I didn't know that these were new. I bought a set in Feb and immediately liked them. Nice and light tension. I had to back off the trussrod a little.

Strung up on my cheap pbass, I was able to get a real old vibe thump out of a modern amp. I'd bet they sound killer on a real nice pbass of some sort.
