This is the third time that D'addario has come through with some great help for me...
There's a set of NYXLs that I really like, but for some reason, the gauge I prefer (50, 70, 85, 105) doesn't come in a 5-string set (no, you >4-string guys, it's not a hint!). I had ordered single .130s to use with that set I emailed D'addario and George, who has helped me before is sending me 3 .130s and 3 .135s to try and see when one I prefer. Man, that's impressive! Also, he's looking into why that set isn't offered in a 5-string set.
Those strings are amazing. While being a good bit more expensive, they are lasting me over twice as long as the Pro Steels and EXLs I was using. And there's a warmth to the midrange tone that is quite apparent to me while keeping the bright characteristics and growl that I want.
Love me some D'addario!

They have always been good to me. Replacing cables when they were the Planet Waves label, etc
I do have two sets of Pro Steels in various stages of wear. One set on my Cirrus and one on my 62 Jazz RI. They sound great but I just don't like the feel? Too grabby and I come from the Rotosound camp! I generally prefer the feel of the nickel XL's. But still fantastic customer service in this day that's for sure!
