D'addario nickel wound short scale questions.

I'm worried about these fitting the G string on my short scale bass.
I measured from the bottom of the bridge, to the G string tuning machine.
I'm getting 40" / 41'' inches.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The entire length of the new string before being cut down to size should be longer than 40". The only important consideration is the actual winding length (fully wound part of the string from the ball end to where it tapers off) is 32" on a short scale D'Addario. As long as that's long enough to clear the nut, you're fine.

It probably will be over 42" to get a couple of good windings then?

I have never used short-scale strings for myself, but typical long-scale strings are around 50" in total length when new.

You will want the medium length. I use the short scale ones on my Mustang PJ. Bridge to G post is 38" and I get 2-1/2 winds uncut. So short scale won't work for you. Fret Nation has them.

They sit fine on this Bass.
The D'addario XL Short rounds have a very long winding.
This is a 30.5" scale neck.

Good on you! Maybe I cut mine and don't remember? They are a couple years old. Anyway, enjoy them. They will last a long time.
