D'addario NYXL Strings

I have them on my MIM Jazz at the moment. 45-105. My setup is Model Js with an Audere. So far they are ok. I don't dislike them and will play them until they die. But I don't love them either. I feel like they sound ok. I also wish they had a little more tension.

Admittedly, I am still trying to define my tonal goals with this particular bass.

I just put them on my 2004 Stingray 5 and 2010 Sterling 5. I like them. I usually play EXL170-5's. To me, these seem to sound more like steel with bigger lows, more focused low mids and higher highs but without that 'steely' top end. They feel a lot like the EXL170-5's and do seem to have a bit less tension. My OD's sound great with them. I'll see how they wear and how long they last. Hopefully they'll drop the price a bit if they catch on. I'm going to have to try some of the other strings you folks mentioned. Haven't been string shopping in a long time.

I put them on a guitar (six skinny strings) & I really tried to break them. I was doing pinch harmonics & then bending the strings hard, but even the high E didn't break.
timbre-wise they sounded just like any other nickel-wound strings I've had

TBH I can't see buying them for bass, but I've never broken a string on a bass.
Cobalts have my attention, the brightness of SS, but w/o the hardness (wear on frets).

These are definitely my new string! Put them on Wednesday night, tweaked set up and intonation, put it in the bag, got it out for gig last night, still in tune!

Got a little bit of stretch from playing and settling in. I check tuning a lot and it only required a small tweak once. Nice.

I think the tension feels slightly less than regular XLs but not overly so. Very comfortable.

The sustain is impressive. Anxious to see what kind of life I will get. I could usually go about 3 months on a set of regular XLs.

Tone is very close to the XLs but these seem to have a bit more punch and the low end isn't quite as loose.
I love hearing/reading this because the XL's are my favorite strings as well even though I always thought they could use a bit more bottom end; I think I'm going to love these strings, Thanks.

Sorry if this is a double post but i just had to post a review of the new NYXL strings. IMHO these are probably the best Bass strings i have ever used. And i've tried out most of them. I got the 40|95 long scale i like a lighter gage string. They are as advertised deep, powerful lows, harmonics are good.
You can get any sound you won't from them. And they STAY IN TUNE. Away i'm glad i talked myself into trying them. My search for the perfect set for my needs has been met.
Congratulations and Thank you, I think these may become my favorite set of strings as well.
