D'Addario Pro Steels; First Impression

I've used the prosteel 40-95's since 2007ish on my basses loaded with barts. They're my faves. I'm trying some custom nickles from stringjoy when they arrive at 35-90 on my 51 reissue pbass. The steels were too clacky on that big chunk of maple, so hopefully going to nickel will help. Never noticed that issue on my ibanezes, but it might be because ibys are easier to get a good setup. Also changing the bridge, which should help with that.
Interesting you bring up ibanez. Do you play a soundgear? I have the sr505 and I'm thinking about what string to try next. Ive tried dunlop, dr fat beam, dr black beauties, and nothing so far is wowing me. Im familiar with pro steels having used them on a couple basses. The polarizing thing is that 1 bass it sounded great on but the other i was pretty dissapointed. What would you say are the best aspects of these strings with that bass? How would you describe the tone you're getting?

They're a bit higher tension than others, facilitating a lower action. I dig the tone with the barts, bright and long lasting. Brittle sounding at first, but beautiful once broken in. I'm also really liking the Stringjoy set that I just put on though. I've got about 40 hours of playtime on them, They're even lighter, and have an even richer sound than the prosteels. But the custom set runs 30$

Im finding that the bart pickups are bright and articulate so mids and lows are critical here. As the strings im using now break in its getting thicker sounding and I'm liking it more. Finding the balance in tone has always been the endless search for me. Sometimes i think i get it very close while others im just shaking my head.
