Danelectro 63 (Dano'63) shortscale bass (30 inch scale).
This bass is VERY light weight. 6lbs 7oz on a digital scale
Its bolt on. Body is hollow, plywood construction.
Good condition. No major dings or scratches. The body binding is in remarkably good condition, compared to others I have seen. Its only slightly lifting in a couple of small spots. You can see easily, in the pics.
The finish on the body is satin and it has kind of a "soft" feel to it. Due to this, it tends to absorb. So, there is a little bit of smudging here or there. Nothing major and very difficult to show in a pic.
The discoloration on the pickguard and body binding is how the bass was made. Intentionally aged look.
The nut is some kind of metal.
This bass has only ever been used inside. No smoking.
To adjust the truss rod, you have to remove the neck. I have never removed the neck.
Fretwork is great. Feels great to play. Currently strung with short scale Daddario Pro-steels.
Has a very cool and interesting tone. Its very easy to get that vintage tic-tac tone from it. But it also has kind of a ric-o-sound tone, as well. That hollow plywood body and shortscale, results in a very cool growl.
The lipstick pickups soloed, are low output and the tone is a bit thin. However, I think they must be wired in series, for the position where both pickups are on. Because with both pickups on, the output is quite a bit more and the tone is much thicker.
This is a very fun bass. I am only getting rid of it, because I am making a giant move, forcing me to get rid of many things.
