I miss my two Jerry Jones Longhorns! I wish I had pictures of them, although it would probably make me cry when I saw it! Jerry made some top notch instruments, but the prices are through the roof now that he closed up shop.

So, anyways; I'm wondering which of the two have the most punch with good mids and a decent bottom end. Which one feels best in the neck? Would it be said that either have a fast "jazz" style neck or kinda beefy? I just got a vintage 64 Silvertone. It sounds phenomenal!!! But ... it's covered in rust. What's the best way to clean it up without ruining it?
Sign me up too.
This model's called a 63 Reissue I think.
Long scale. Got it in Auckland for a bargain.
Please see my post above & any hints appreciated.
What strings are you guys using on em?
None on mine in this pic as it's getting ready to fly to Aus with me.
It's got the stock strings on now, but was wondering if anyone's using flats or tapewounds?

Howdy, guys. Looking for some Dano information and I figured this would be the place to ask. I need first hand experience from you guys. So, here goes.
I'm looking into either a DC or a Hodad. This being that I can't stand the the way the longhorns look. So, anyways; I'm wondering which of the two have the most punch with good mids and a decent bottom end. Which one feels best in the neck? And I guess better so, what is wrong with either of the DC and Hodad? For you guys that play these models, what would you change about them? Do specific parts, like tuners or pots, need to be replaced to make these basses become great?
I appreciate the feedback.![]()
FunkyWilly said:I can't speak about the DC, but I have a Hodad and it has the upgraded tuners and fully adjustable bridge. And it had a great range of tones. Extremely versatile in my opinion. Slender neck and lightweight. And yes, it's a 34" scale.
DC is a neck diver, hodad is slight offset body like mosrite.
Have me a nice Copper Burst '58 Longhorn '01 reissue and a Seafoam Green (supposed to be Aqua Blue) '56 Dolphinhead '11 Reissue.
I'm also currently building a bass that will be loaded with Dano lipstick pups, Dano stacked knobs, and a Dano bridge/saddle combo.
Also never leave home without my Dano FAB distortion pedal.
Long story short, I love Danos.
EDIT : Didn't remember I was already on the list forever ago! Hahahaha!
