Dano-style P-bass build

Sorry for the lack of updates. I recently moved from my hometown of 18 years to the opposite side of the state to attend Florida State University. I haven't had the time or space to work on the project. The next holiday break I get I'll bust my ass on it and get it done. I won't let this project die.

I apologize once again for the long delay. After an extremely time consuming and disappointing semester, I'm finally going to have time to work on the bass this summer. In fact, last week I've filled in a few holes in the plywood and did a 45 degree route along the edge of the body like on the old Danelectros. I'll get pictures up a soon as I can.

I like where you're going, but that particular design doesn't quite look right to me. To be honest though, I thought I wouldn't but I actually like how the original pickguard looks on it.

Just found this thread. I've been working on a similar model. My Resolectro models are also built in the Danolectro style (I use pine with hardwood neck/tailblocks instead of plywood for the frame).

Not to knock the reissues (too much!), but I prefer the original Danolectro style (pine frames). I have a collection of early to mid 60's Silvertone/Dano basses that were the main influence in my design.

Good call Thangfish! Danny is a great player, but I totally understand what you're saying. I have been playing the bass out constantly. I'm pleased with it, but I've already got new ideas for the next version.

I will be moving my business over the summer to White Bluff, Tn. (west of Nashville). I will be back up and running in August. I plan to have the next version of the Resolectro Bass, as well as a semi-hollow, non-reso version in the fall. I will be posting more photos then (I am also building a F-mandolin shaped bass right now, hoped to have it finished before I move. Photos coming soon...).
