Darkglass Alpha-Omega 500 vs Microtubes 500 V2

Has anyone heard these Darkglass amps side by side? I saw a youtube video on these amps but the video showed the bassist was playing the same metal song. Does anyone know the main differences? Is just the Distortion different?

I think the distortion is different, the distortions built into the amps get their characteristics from the pedals they're named after

You guys are asking about the difference between the 2nd version of both the alpha omega 500 and the microtubes 500, right? If I'm understanding correctly. (One is black, one is a dark bluish color)

The amps are identical minus two things:

1. Different distortions. Both feature two different distortions.

2. How the distortions are selected is different.

The Microtubes lets you choose between the B7K circuit or the Vintage Deluxe circuit. One or the other. It's worth noting that these are the exact circuits from those respective pedals built into the amp.

The AO lets you choose between an "Alpha" distortion (fuzzy) and an "Omega" distortion (bitey). This amp runs both distortions simultaneously and features a blend knob for balancing between them. For example, you could run 70% Alpha and 30% Omega (the sweet spot in my opinion).

You can of course run either amp with the distortion disengaged if you like.

One has the AO distortion.

The other has the B7K & Vintage.

The will both sound amazing clean.

From owning the v2 and a alpha ultra the only thing really different is the distortion the 500 has more options in my opinion both sound great clean tho either will work great just depends on what distortion you like better. In the perfect world I would go with the v2 and get the bigger foot switch with it and get the alpha omega smaller pedal to have every distortion ever needed if your into having different types of distortion. Personally the v2 just does what I need and is very convenient with at home use.
